Primary department at Tor School

In the Primary department we aim to provide a safe and caring environment where everyone is valued and encouraged to respect themselves and others.  During placements the individual educational, behavioural and social needs of the pupil can be assessed and any difficulties addressed with a view to returning, where possible, to mainstream school.

We believe that each person is special and every person is equally important.

Therefore we encourage our pupils to…

° Focus on our 5 learning habits
° Respect each other as individuals
° Treat each other with courtesy and consideration
° Make it as easy as possible for everyone to learn and for the teacher to teach
° Always speak politely
° Respect one another’s property

We value our Pupil Referral Unit as….
° A place of learning
° A friendly, caring and hard-working community
° An attractive, safe and purposeful workplace

In the Primary department we pride ourselves on having an ambitious, unique, creative and broad curriculum that meets the needs of our pupils. We follow a long term plan that maps out topics. This is then translated into individual medium term plans that addresses the needs of each individual pupil.
