Medical, Mental Health & Vulnerable Learners

The Upper School at Dampier Street caters for pupils in Key Stage 4 who are referred by medics and are not currently able to access mainstream education due to medical or mental health needs. All pupils  remain on the roll of their mainstream school which works closely with the school to provide an appropriate package of education.  All pupils are expected to access and attend as much of a full time programme as their health allows.

We have a Virtual Learning Environment which provides a flexible programme that meets the needs of students with conditions which limit their ability to access mainstream learning, to a maximum of three hours per day.

We also provide education at Yeovil District Hospital for children who are in-patients or receiving treatment through out-patient clinics. Our skilled team work with individual children to ensure that their education is not unduly affected by a stay in hospital. This work is carried out in conjunction with the mainstream school and all children are encouraged to maintain contact with their teachers, and friends, whilst they are in hospital.
