Somerset Local Authority knows that, sometimes, a young person will achieve their potential best if they are placed in a PRU in Year 11. These pupils are based at the Lower School in Dampier Street.

Permanently excluded students or students at high risk of permanent exclusion are referred to the school by the local authority. Students in year 11 will generally stay at the school for the remainder of their Key Stage 4 education, allowing for continuity of support and the opportunity to gain GCSE and Vocational qualifications.

The lower school has a maximum capacity of 15 pupils.
