We are looking for a strong practitioner with a passion for teaching English, who is confident and skilled in working with learners who have SEMH needs, teaching young people in KS3 and KS4. We can offer a well-resourced department and a great team of people to work with.

Tor School is Pupil Referral Unit based in Glastonbury, Yeovil and Chard. Tor School is committed to providing the best education possible for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in East Somerset.

The advertised vacancy is primarily based at our Dampier Street, Yeovil, site.

We are keen to appoint the right person with the personal qualities that will make them a success at Tor. In addition to the skills required, the passion to work with young people and the key personal attributes are fundamental.

We are looking for candidates who (are):

Able to teach more than one subject and English up to GCSE level
Resilient and dependable and committed to high quality teaching and learning
Excellent interpersonal skills and works well in a small team
Organised and hard working – willing and able to go the extra mile

Firmly believes that every child, irrespective of background and starting point, can be successful in learning
Imaginative and can create opportunities to promote children’s social and emotional development

Committed to social inclusion and raising children’s achievement

Subscribe to, and can demonstrate, a clear understanding of nurturing principles
Able to foster good relationships with pupils, parents/carers and a range of professional colleagues
A high level of personal resilience, a positive attitude and flexible approach

Willing to continue and develop practice through self-directed professional development
